Ex.12:1-8, A new beginning, a new management, a new life
Ex.12:1-8, A new beginning, a new management, a new life
1.The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2"This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.
12:17."Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt.
12:41.At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord's divisions left Egypt.
2Cor5:17,Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
Col3:10,and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
<Eng. Sermon Summary>
*<An Eagle and a Chick> You are not a chick but an eagle! Jn.1:12 (children of God)
1. Start a new world 1) Leave the world/sins. V.2, "This month shall be the beginning of the month, the first month of the year."
2) Are you born again? Change to God first. Ex.20:3 Do not put any other gods other than me, but only God. 3) Receive a new source.
The question of the Einstein's disciples, "what is the secret of your many achievements?
"S = X + Y + Z!" S = Success, X = Effort, Y = Passion, Z = Thought.
S = new management of the saints, X = Believing in Jesus, Y = New source, Z = New life of Saints. The new management refers to the changes that change the food I eat, drink (the source). Q: What supply should the Christian born again live with?
2. Now do a new management
1) Apply the lamb's blood, Verse 7, "Put the blood on the sides and top of the doorframes of the house to eat the lamb. "Hymn #268, '♪ Have the blood of the Lord, and trust in thy blood. It is the very precious blood of the Lamb.♪' 'Putting of the blood!' means praying of repentance. Q: Is the blood of the cross(repentance) in your life?
2) Eat the lamb. Verse 3, 'Take the Lamb.' John 6:55, "My flesh is a true food, and my blood is a real drink." (God's Word) Q: How is your spiritual health? (Word)
3) Eat unleavened bread and bitter herbs. V.8, "On that night ... eat unleavened bread and bitter herbs together." Verse 15, eat unleavened bread for seven days. 'Holy life'
3. Now live a new life. 1) In the army of the LORD, v.17, "... I have brought your army out of the land of Egypt." V.41, "... the army of the LORD came out of the land of Egypt." Q: What part of you should be trained as a person? 2) Live a new life as a priest. Ex.19:5-6, "... you shall be a kingdom of priests for me, and a holy people." Who is the priest? We have become a priestly nation called to work for God, and a well-trained army of Jehovah. I bless you to live well as an eagle, to be an army of God and a priest. Q./ Are you living as a priest called for the kingdom of God?
Bible Study
Ex.12:1-8; 2Cor.5:17,A New Beginning, New Management, New Life–Living as an Eagle
1. Observation : The Story of the Eagle and the Chicks
An eaglet raised among a flock of chicks initially lived just like them, unaware of its own true capabilities. One day, upon seeing an eagle soaring through the sky, it flexed its own wings; realizing then that it was indeed an eagle, it took flight toward the vast blue heavens. Biblical Observation: Exodus Chapter 12 recounts the event in which the people of Israel departed from Egypt to embark upon a new life. 2Cor.5:17 speaks of becoming a "new creation" in Christ Jesus and commencing a new life. The elements of the Passover—the blood, the lamb, the unleavened bread, and the bitter herbs—symbolize the new spiritual sustenance, new stewardship, and holy practices essential to the life of a believer.
2. Interpretation
1) The Meaning of a New Beginning: Before we placed our faith in Jesus, our lives were limited and frail—much like those of chicks—and we remained under the influence of the world and of sin. Through salvation, we have become "new creations," children of God, and beings akin to eagles; recognizing this true identity is the crucial first step. Just as in the Exodus event, we must leave behind our familiar and comfortable lives (symbolized by Egypt) to embrace and live out our new status and new life.
2) Principles of New management: Applying the Blood: Repentance and the application of Christ's precious blood, leading to freedom from sin.
Eating the Lamb: Consuming Jesus Christ as our spiritual sustenance, thereby receiving strength and power for our lives.
Unleavened Bread and Bitter Herbs: Purging sinful and impure elements associated with the world, and managing one's life in a manner that is holy and set apart.
3) The Goal of the New Life: The Army of the LORD: As redeemed Christians, we are called to be trained warriors, tasked with fulfilling the mission entrusted to us. A Priestly Life: Acting as a mediator between God and humanity, and serving the community and the world through spiritual maturity and fullness.
3. Application: 1) Affirming Identity: I am not a chick, but an eagle. I believe that God is the Master of my life and that I am a child of God.
2) Practicing a New Beginning: I must leave behind past sins and worldly values to step forward into a new life. I will establish the habit of offering the first moments of my day, my material resources, and my priorities to God.
2) Securing New Sustenance: I will feed on the Word, drink of the Holy Spirit, and receive spiritual nourishment daily. I will repent of my sins and steward my life carefully so as not to compromise God's grace.
3) Discipline and management As a soldier in the Lord's army, I will discipline my life and take action for the sake of God's Kingdom. As a priest, I will uphold holiness, build up others, and prioritize my relationship with God.
4. Commitment & Prayer : Commitment: From this day forward, I will live as an eagle. I will ensure that God remains the top priority in my life every day; I will repent of my sins and nourish myself through the Word and the Holy Spirit. I will live as both a soldier and a priest for the sake of God's Kingdom.
Prayer: O God, do not leave me as a frail creature like a chick; instead, enable me to soar toward the heavens like an eagle. Help me to steward my life anew, to walk in Your presence every day, and to be filled to overflowing with Your Word and the Holy Spirit. Grant me the streng th to fulfill my priestly calling and to dedicate myself fully to the advancement of Your Kingdom. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
