Eze.34:25-35:15,  The covenant of peace & God who was been there(Judgment of Edom)

The text speaks of the restoration of Israel(34:25-31) and God who is there even in suffering(Ch.35).

1. Restoration of Israel (34:25-31)
 God and the Messiah, the descendant of David, restore Israel as the true shepherd. He is with Israel (Immanuel), makes a covenant of peace(25,37:26), and makes them dwell in safety(25,27,28). He restores the covenant relationship(28-31) and becomes the God of Israel, and lets Israel know that they are God's sheep and people(31). *Application: If you repent even in the midst of failure and discipline, do you believe and live that Jesus, the true shepherd, made a covenant of peace and restored the relationship?

2. Judgment on the enemy Edom(Ch.35): God judges Mount Seir(Edom) that tormented the brother nation Israel. The sins are 1) hatred(5) and war(Ob.1:10-14), 2) Greed to make Judah their own land(10), and 3) insult and opposition(13). God opposes Edom and desolates it(3,4,7,9,14,15). *Application: Do you bless the church or the saints? Do you curse them?

3. Jehovah is there (34:27,30; 35:4,9,10,15; 48:35)

 When Israel suffered, when it was destroyed by Babylon, when it was hostile, mocked, and hated by Edom (5,11,13), God was there(Jehovah Shammah,48:35). He heard this(12-13), defined it as an enemy of Him(13), and destroyed Edom, the enemy of Israel. *Application: Do you rely on the God of Jehovah Shammah who is there even in moments of despair?(10)

4. Prayer: God, the good shepherd, let us always follow you while being thankful for the grace that has made us God’s sheep and people. Let us live as a blessed people who bless and comfort your people and church, and let us believe in and rely on the God of Jehovah Shammah who is there even in times of suffering, and live victoriously in hope. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
