Acts 13:1-3,1:8,28:31, God’s mission, God’s kingdom

We are called to serve the kingdom of God. We do this by receiving the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8. This verse shows the division of Acts into three sections.

1. This is a story about Jerusalem (Chs. 1-7)

God established mankind's first church in Jerusalem. So many people returned to God despite persecution, tribulation, and testing. 1) A loving community of Christ's love, 2) A home church, where they often gathered to share food and praise God (1:13,14; 2:1,46; 5:42; 12:5,12). 3) A church made up of experiences of suffering and the experience of the Holy Spirit. 4) It was a Jewish-oriented church organized around the Apostle Peter. 5) It was a community that spread the gospel and carried out social sanctification movements (6:1-4). Let’s follow this church example.

2. God’s kingdom expands to all of Judea and Samaria (1:8, chs. 8-12)

The gospel, Jesus Christ, expanded to all of Judea and Samaria. If God opens a door, no one can close it. The gospel is flowing throughout the world and into every country. Philip, John, and Peter were active. It was also passed down to the Gentile family of Cornelius(Ch.10). We cannot, but the Lord is strong and great. Mk. 9:23, Phil.4:13, nothing is impossible with God. Let us all live powerfully for the kingdom of God in Jesus.

3. God’s kingdom will reach to the ends of the earth (1:8, chs. 13-28)

The gospel that began in Jerusalem goes from in chapter 13 and goes to the ends of the earth. Antioch Church begins missionary work and becomes the center. In the last verse 28:31, Jesus Christ is preached boldly and without hesitation. We are continuing to write the Book of Acts.

Let us pray and work for this work. You can do all things through Him who gives you strength. Amen.
