Ephesians 6:1-3, The most blessed commandment

6:1-3,
1.Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2."Honor your father and mother" -- which is the first commandment with a promise --
3."that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Today  is blessed mother's day. May God bless your mother and you today.
Which word is the most beautiful and warm wordin the world?  It will be the mother or parents!

1. Mother (parents) gave us life (Genesis 5:3, 2-8).
"3.When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth."

2. Obey your mother (parents) (6:1). 'Listen.'
Listen them and follow them well. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
Proverbs 1:8-9, 23:22 Obey the father who bore you, and do not regard your old mother.

Gen 9:20-27, the curse of Ham / the blessing of Shem and Japheth
"20Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. 21When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.
23But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness.
24When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers."  26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. 27May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."

3. Honor your father and your mother (6:2).
"Honor your father and mother" -- which is the first commandment with a promise
Please accept their value. Regard them as heavy, precious and highly.

 How can we honor them?
   1) Make them happy. 2) Say greetings often.
  3) Express appreciation. 4) Supply their needs(Give cash them often.

4. Blessings given to obey / honor parents. In the Lord (6:1-2)

6:3, "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." He will be good in the earth, and will live long.
 * Rockefeller's mother - 5 principles of blessing.

 2) Believe in God
 3) Do not break your church pastor's heart.
 4) Always sit at the front of your worship service.
 5) Be sure to read the Bible in the morning everyday.

 * Follow the example of Jesus.
Luke 2:51, "Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart."
John 19:26-27, "26When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son,"
27and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home."

Let us obey and honor our parents like Shem and Japheth, like Rockefeller, and like Jesus. Obeying and honoring our mother(parents), you will live with the blessings of heaven and be these blessed parents someday. Amen.
