Luke 2:7-14 The greatest gift, Jesus

2:7-14
7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

What do you think about Christmas? "Tree", "Gifts", "Holiday", "Carol", "Sancta Claus." Is not it Christmas where Jesus is missing? What does a real Christmas tree decorate mean?
The tree means the tree of life in the Garden of Eden, which means that Jesus Christ is our life. This tree hangs apples, paper flowers, breads, candles / Christmas lights. Apples symbolize the tree of the knowledgeof good and evil, the sin that caused man's death. The paper flowers symbolize the Christ of hope, flowers that bore through sin and death (Isaiah 11: 1). The bread means the food of life. Jn. 6:35, Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
The candles / Christmas lights symbolize Jesus Christ, who came to the light of the world. We are masters of Jesus. Jn. 12:46, "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."

Jesus is not comparable to Santa, which many people speak. The birthday of Jesus is the day of the greatest gift. Everything is in Jesus. Peace and salvation, joy and blessing, love and grace, comfort and recovery, healing and power. Let's share some gifts of them.

1. Jesus is the greatest news(gospel)(8,10).

Verse 8-10, "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."  Jesus, the Creator, was born in this world, and all the world's people were saved and have eternal life. All we have to do is to trust in Jesus and entrust ourselves.

2. The baby in a manger (7,12)

Verse 7, "she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
Verse 12, "This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
The baby Jesus who came to save us lay down in a manger. The Lord has come for a sinful world and sinners. Jesus did not come to call the righteous, but to call sinners and come to save them. The church is where the sinner meets Jesus in the manger. Jesus comes to a poor heart. It's in Matthew 5:3, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Let us also take care of our neighbors with a poor heart.

3. Jesus Christ the Savior (11)

"Today ... For you, the Savior has been born to you, He is Christ the Lord, " Jesus is our Savior. Matthew 1:21, "... for he will save his people from their sins." Only Jesus is the Savior. Did you receive Jesus as your Savior on this Christmas? Is Jesus always your Lord? Like Zacchaeus (Luke 19:10), I pray that you will receive the greatest glad tidings, the baby who lying in the manger, and be the blessed Saints who receive the Lord Jesus as the greatest gift.
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."  Amen.
