Phil. 3:7-16, Only for Jesus Christ

7-16,
7.But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8.What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ. 9.and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ -- the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10.I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11.and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12.Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13.Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14.I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
15.All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16.Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

Who do you live for and for what? For yourself and your family? For neighbors or for God/Jesus?

Paul in the text originally lived for himself and for Jewish law and religion. But since meeting the resurrected Jesus, he has changed into a life that lives only for Him. I want that you hear God's voice as you look at the posture of his life.

1. Forget the past that was sinful for Jesus (7,8,12,13, Is. 43:18).

He sees the transfer for Jesus Christ as excrement or harmful. I say it's still an unfinished life, and I forget everything behind it.

2. Run forward to resemble Jesus, the signpost (12, 14, Rom. 8:29).

"Run forward toward the goal of life (12), the signpost (Resemblance to Jesus, Rom. 8:29). ' Run,' he says, sprinting with all his might. Look like Jesus with holy grievances.
*Why Walt Disney started Disneyland and Disney World. *Question: "What do you want to do to run towards the signpost?"

3. Expect heavenly prizes in Jesus (14).

We think of man's praises or awards, but what matters is God's award. Expect this and run well.
*Handel's Messiah compositions.
*The Lord's response to the outreach report of 70 people was to rejoice in the recorded name in the heavenly world.
*How do you live your faith in anticipation of the heavenly award?

Conclusion:
I bless you to be a Saints who forget the past, turn to the signposts, look forward to the heavenly prize, and run well to the end only for Jesus. Amen.
